(January 10, 2026) Cashew exports exceed $5 billion for the first time.

Cashew exports in the last month of 2025 reached a high level, bringing the total annual exports to over $5 billion for the first time. According to Vietnam Customs, in December 2025, cashew exports reached US$466 million, a 29% increase compared to the same period in 2025. This December export result has brought Vietnam’s cashew exports for 2025 to surpass US$5 billion for the first time, reaching US$5.229 billion.

Previously, in 2024, cashew exports surpassed the $4 billion mark for the first time, reaching over $4.3 billion. Thus, for two consecutive years, the cashew industry has achieved new milestones in export value.

With the results for 2025, after fruits and vegetables, rice, and coffee, cashew nuts have become the fourth agricultural product to achieve export turnover exceeding 5 billion USD in a single year. This year, due to a sharp decline in rice exports, cashew nuts have risen to third place among agricultural products, after coffee (8.9 billion USD) and fruits and vegetables (8.56 billion USD).

Not only will cashew exports in 2025 set a new record in terms of value, but they will also set a new record in terms of volume, reaching 766,585 tons, a 5.7% increase compared to 2024.

In 2025, Vietnam’s cashew industry imported more than 2.9 million tons of raw cashews, worth $4.5 billion; resulting in a trade surplus of over $700 million.

Also in 2025, for the first time, China surpassed the US to become the largest market for Vietnamese cashew nuts with a turnover of $1.115 billion. The US dropped to second place with a turnover of $975 million. Third place went to the Netherlands with a turnover of $495 million.
